NFMPI Community Outreach Focus: The Clara White Mission Clara White Logo

For over 100 years, the Clara White Mission has helped Jacksonville's at-risk individuals gain new perspectives on life.  The Mission has been the one-stop community center stimulating economic development through job training in Culinary Arts, Janitorial Environmental Service, job placement, housing initiatives, drop-in center, daily meals and more.

"Aunt Clara", as she was known throughout the community, continued her humanitarian pursuits to the end of her life. She established with her daughter "The Old Folks Home" that would become the Eartha White Nursing Home, and initiated "the mission work" that would one day bear her name; both of those agencies survive today, providing the services they were designed to offer when the twentieth century was new. Clara White died in 1920.
